‘Tidelands’ to be Netflix’s first Australia Original

Here’s what we know:

  • 10-Episode order
  • From the producers of ‘Secrets & Lies’
  • First Australian Original series
  • Starts shooting in Queensland in 2018.
  • Netflix Media Centre wrote, “The drama follows a former criminal as she returns home to the small fishing village of Orphelin Bay. When the body of a local fisherman washes ashore, she must uncover the town’s secrets while investigating its strange inhabitants, a group of dangerous half-Sirens, half-humans called ‘Tidelanders’.”


Netflix FYSEE

Netflix has begun an UpFront marketing campaign FYSee in Los Angeles to promote their slate of original series. Running from now through June in Beverly Hills, the campaign is both interactive and content packed aimed to get award consideration for Netflix original content. FYSEE activities include ‘in conversations’, panels, screening, costume displays from The Crown, art display featuring Stranger Things and incentives for attendees to interact with. All events are by invitation only.

Gina Rodriguez to Lend Voice to ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’

According to The Tracking Board, Gina Rodriguez is set to lend her voice for the role of Carmen Sandiego in the series ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?’. The 1985 video game was adapted into a series for PBS from 1991 t0 1995. The series promoted geographical education through fun and interactive programming.

Netflix has ordered 20 episodes and is set to air sometime in 2018. Gina Rodriguez can currently be found on ‘Jane the Virgin’ on The CW and Netflix Canada.
